Longniddry
Overview: Sea location on the Forth; some nasty rocks!
Location: 30 mins East of Edinburgh
Directions:
  • A1 East out of Edinburgh
  • After about 10 miles, take the exit for A198 (Longniddry)
  • Stay on A198, over the first roundabout
  • 3rd exit at the next roundabout (A198)
  • Go through Longniddry village and keep left on A198
  • Follow the road down to the T-junction; turn right
  • Car park entrance is 100yards on the left; w'surfers normally stay to the left hand side of the car park, but can sometimes be found over on the far right hand side, depending on conditions.
Notes: Longniddry is the first place people normally get to coming out of Edinburgh, and can be busy even if there are better places further down the coast.

Works well in a South Westerly; just be careful of the line of rocks that runs out from the middle of the carpark; the rocks also protect a sewage pipe.... ho hum.

Can be great fun, but if the wind is from the West and it's onshore at Longniddry, keep going down the coast to Gullane.
