St. Andrews; famous for the golf courses and it's long West Sands.
In the prevailing winds, this location is not for the faint hearted;
being more off shore than cross; in a Westerly, it's pure off shore.
If the wind is mainly Southerly or Northerly, the conditions are
perfect; add in a decent swell and the beach then really fires on
all cylinders with decent waves.
If you do sail here in a Southerly wind, be careful not to let the
rip take you too far up the beach and into the channel. There is a
sandbar up there, but it's easy to fall off it!
